“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” Matthew 6:14,15
Forgiveness is a central part of the Christian life. If we don’t forgive others we cannot be forgiven by our heavenly Father. Forgiveness of our sin is what gives us peace with God. If you can’t give forgiveness you cannot receive forgiveness.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright” Hebrews 12:14-16
If we harbor forgiveness in your heart it will turn to a root of bitterness.
That bitterness will cause us to fail the grace of God in our own life making us defiled and unable to pursue peace or holiness
