This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1 Timothy 1:15
The entirety of the gospel is found in one verse. In this post we will address a small but important part of the verse:
“Jesus came into the world to save”
Jesus did not come to condemn us, Jesus did not come to help us save ourselves, Jesus did not come to save us in part, Jesus did not come to help us remain content with being unsaved, and Jesus did not come to just save sinners from the punishment of their sins.
Jesus did come to save sinners from the pollution of their sins and to free sinners from the tendency and necessity of sin.
