1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psalms 1:1
These verses are great advice to anyone seeking after God. We start with the three things not to do. You will find the ways in verse one to be a downward spiral. Blessed is the man who doesn’t do these things.
- It starts out by walking in the counsel of the ungodly. Why would any child of God seek counsel from the ungodly, much less walk in that counsel? Ungodly means: without God, away from God, or against God. Warning, don’t walk that way!!!
- Then there is standing in the way of sinners. Once you stand in the way of sinners (hang out with) you will have done three things. You have approved their conduct, you have applauded their evil, and you have entered into their iniquities. Warning, don’t stand there!!!
- And lastly, don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. That is the group that is critical and scornful. They attack and make fun of those who delight in the law of the Lord. Warning, don’t sit there!!!
